Announcing 2024 Flexible Pricing!

Only pay for those in your party!

In an effort to make our retreat accessible to parties smaller than 7, we are now offering our new Flexible Pricing plan for smaller groups wanting to come use our retreat, but don’t want to pay for empty beds!

At Quilt Idaho, we empathize with small groups of retreaters who want to have a fun get-away, without the big cost of going to the big retreats, but don’t have enough retreaters in their group to fill the 7 available beds we have to keep the price per person low.

So we are trying something new…

Starting with reservations for 2024, we will be offering pricing based on how many individuals are coming in your group with a minimum of two retreaters attending.

Your group will be priced at $60/person/night plus the flat rate of $120 for our cleaning crew (plus tax). When making your reservation, you will indicate how many individuals will be in your group (2-7) and your group coordinator will receive an invoice with a total based on the size of your party.

Total Cost = (Number of Individuals x $60 x Number of nights) + $120 Cleaning Fee + Tax

This keeps the cost at an affordable price per person so that even the smallest of groups can enjoy the retreat! Creating an affordable, relaxing, and private place to go with your crafting friends when you want to go has always been our mission and we are hoping this new plan will make it that much easier for those smaller groups to be able to get out and enjoy themselves.

Payments will be due on the same schedule as we have always had - half of your total due one month prior to your stay, and the second half due two weeks before your stay . Please know that we cannot refund payments already made should your group decrease in size, but can adjust the pricing for future payments. We still have a two night minimum. Should you wish you wish to add to your party (up to 7 individuals in total), we can adjust your invoice accordingly. A $150 deposit is required to make your reservation and will be applied to your total bill due. Cancelations made within one month of your reservation will forfeit your deposit and any payments already made; we are grateful for your understanding that late cancelations of reservations are very difficult for us to replace and affect our sustainability as a small business.

Note: Our retreat is intended to be rented by small groups. We do not take reservations for individuals. We are a vacation rental set up specifically for quilters, sewers, and makers. When contacting The Quilt Idaho to make your reservation, please have a representative/coordinator designated for your group to act as a person of contact and arrange payment to the retreat. We do not take payments from individual guests.

For those unfamiliar with the vacation-rental paradigm, and for the managed expectations of all our guests, we wish to clarify what charges you should expect on your reservation invoice:

  • Rental Fee $425/night with a 2-night minimum. (Split among a group of 7, that comes out to just over $60/person/night).

    • If you need to fill space in your group, feel free to invite along your non-quilting/crafting friends/family. There is plenty to do up on the mountain for everyone, or to just enjoy the peace and quiet.

  • A cleaning fee of $120 (per stay). This fee goes directly to our hired cleaning crew and covers only typical cleaning services expected between stays (laundry, vacuuming, dusting, bathrooms, etc.) Please note that unreasonable messes left may incur an additional charge for cleaning. Please pick up after yourselves and return items to where they were found or as labeled; we greatly appreciate and thank you for the effort.

  • Reservation down payment of $150. We collect a $150 payment to confirm your reservation. This payment is applied to your total bill for your reservation.

Note: For total transparency and clear expectations - your cost of stay pays for your use of the facility. We do not provide “personal-services” for our guests. We simply do not have staff available to do favors on demand and it would be very expensive to hire someone to be available to do this. Please come expecting to cook your own meals, load and unload your own vehicles, and run your own errands. We are not a hotel with hired staff for consierge-type services. We do our best to help retreaters get the most out of their stay, but we also work outside of the vacation rental and have a young family we are raising. Thank you for your understanding and kindness. We also travel a large portion of the year so we may or may not be on the property during your stay (we live in a separate living space on the property).

We are open for reservations April 1st until New Years every year! We are open for winter reservations on a limited basis and at a discounted rate of $325/night (Jan through March). Please note that the cancellation policy described below applies for the rest of the year, even for cancellations due to weather.

  • Half of your total rental fee is due one month prior to your stay (this is separate from the security deposit fee). Failure to meet this requirement may cancel your reservation and forfeit your security deposit.

  • Full payment due 14 days in advance of stay. Failure to meet this requirement may cancel your reservation, forfeiting your security deposit and one-half of your total fee.

Any cancellations made within 1 month of your reservation will result in forfeiting your deposit and one-half of your total fee.

To book a reservation, please fill out a booking request, email us at danielle@quiltidaho.com or call / text (208) 615-2250. We accept check, credit card, or PayPal. Check In and Check Out time is at 1:00 PM (based on availability, we may allow early / late check in/out; Just Ask!)

Accommodations

The Quilt Idaho Retreat is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, single-level home on just under 3 acres of land in the historic Boise Basin community of Centerville, Idaho. We are located at the end of a private mountain road on top of a hill with a beautiful view. Our retreat can accommodate 7 guests. (Note; there are approximately 4 short steps to get in and out the front door of the retreat.)

Centerville, ID is a small community approximately 8 miles up Centerville Rd. from Idaho City. If you are coming from Highway 21, we strongly recommend you come via the Centerville Rd. route and not the Grimes Creek route as Grimes Creek Pass, while great for off-roaders and recreationists, is not well maintained, narrow, and has many unmarked forks. Centerville Rd is well maintained and wide, although unpaved. Should your group be staying during the colder months when snow is possible (we are at 4,300 ft), we recommend using an all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle with decent tire tread. There is limited to no cell phone signal along Centerville Rd.

There is no cell phone signal at the retreat, but we provide free WiFi. Many cell phone carriers allow calling over the internet via a WiFi connection using a feature called “WiFi Calling”. We recommend you check with your carrier to ensure this feature is enabled on your device (instructions for Android and instructions for iPhone). You can always ask us for help should you need it. We also have several TV and movie streaming services such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, and YouTube TV. Currently, there is no cable (although YouTube TV provides most cable networks as well as local channels) or dish TV service.

The owners live on the property in a separate building, allowing your privacy while still having us at reach should you need something.

  • The retreat has limited parking on-site, and we recommend carpooling if possible. To maximize parking space, we recommend parking in the configuration below:

Danielle offers longarm edge-to-edge and custom computerized quilting. Guests may bring their finished quilt tops and backing for quilting and have them shipped back when finished. We do not rent out the longarm or allow guests to use it. You can learn more about our longarm services, fees, and submit a longarming request here.

Sewing Area

The retreat has a large purposed sewing room with:

  • 7 large, custom made L-shaped sewing desks each with:

  • 2 pressing stations with wool ironing pad

    • irons provided (no steam please)

  • Bedroom 1: A twin-sized bed and a double bed.

  • Bedroom 2: Two custom-made twin-xl beds.

  • Bedroom 3: Three custom-made twin-xl beds.

  • Each bed has access to a nightstand with a power strip

We also have a queen-sized air bed and overstuffed couches in case guests feel the need to spread out a bit more.

Bathrooms

There are 2 very nice stone-tiled bathrooms with luxury showers. Both showers have tubs, one of which is jetted. We provide:

  • Towels

  • Washcloths

  • Hand-towels

  • Basic toiletries

  • Toilet paper

Please note: Our retreat is on a septic system, no non-toilet paper items or bleach/disinfectant down the pipes please!

Living Space

Our retreat offers a cozy living space with a couch, love-seat, and over-sized chair; perfect for taking a tea break, doing some handwork, or watching a movie. Should you be staying during the cooler months, the living space also has a wood burning stove (in addition to the gas furnace for heat) which makes for a relaxing, cozy atmosphere. For safety reasons, should you wish to use the wood stove, please let your host(s) know and they will get it started for you. We provide the firewood.

The Quilt Idaho Retreat does have a washer and dryer available should you need to do some laundry during your stay.

Kitchen

Please Note: We do NOT provide meals or catering at The Quilt Idaho Retreat so be sure to pack some provisions. Nevertheless, BoCo Social in Idaho City has agreed to offer catering services to guests at The Quilt Idaho. If you wish to arrange catering with BoCo Social, please contact them at (208) 392 - 9334. You can also see their website at HTTP://www.bocosocial.com or contact the owner, Lisa, at lisa@bococollectables.com. We do not arrange catering on behalf of our guests. We have a kitchen stocked with all the utensils, pots, pans, and tools you’ll need for your stay. (Most groups coordinate meal preparation ahead of time and take turns cooking for the group.) The kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator with built in water filter and ice dispenser, a counter top ice-maker, a basic coffee and tea bar, dishwasher and gas stove. We keep some basic staples in the pantry (e.g., flour, sugar, etc.) for guest use should you forget something. Our spices and extra pantry items are complimentary but not guaranteed nor regularly re-stocked. If you absolutely need an ingredient for your dish, please bring it.

In addition to the kitchen, we also have an outdoor deck with a gas grill. There is outdoor seating during the late Spring, Summer, and early Fall seasons. Most guests prefer sitting outside for meals to look at the beautiful view of the forested mountains.

Nearby (8 miles) Idaho City has several restaurants should your group wish to dine out. We recommend calling to check hours, especially during the “off-season”. You can find a listing of Idaho City restaurants and other attractions at the Idaho City Chamber of Commerce: https://idahocitychamber.org/index.html.

Outdoors

The Quilt Idaho Retreat sits on top of a mountain side community. We have approximately 3 acres of forested hillside. If you need to stretch your legs, feel free to walk the road throughout the neighborhood. Please be courteous to our neighbors and respect their privacy.

We have an outdoor fire-pit with seating should you wish to gather round the fire at night and roast some marshmallows. Firewood is provided on site.

We also have a horse-shoe pit should your group be feeling up for some friendly competition.

Finally, we have a hot-tub on the deck with seating for approximately 4 which overlooks the mountain view. It’s great for relieving any soreness or tight muscles after a full day of sewing and the star gazing is magnificent!

Nearby

There are several nearby attractions should you be up for an adventure. Idaho City (8 miles down Centerville Rd.) is a historic mining town that was once the capital of Idaho. It is known for its preservation of historic buildings, small mom-and-pop shops, approximately 4 restaurants, two small supply stores (Idaho City Grocery, Seasons Grocery), and a wonderful ice cream and gift shop. More info about Idaho City attractions can be on the IC Chamber of Commerce Website HERE

Heading south down Highway 21 there is a hot-spring resort.

Heading north will take you to the mountain towns of Lowman and beautiful Stanley, Idaho.

If you wish to take an adventure over Alder Creek Pass (just keep going along Centerville Rd, pass Centerville, turn right at the intersection and right again at Placerville) you’ll arrive in Garden Valley and nearby Crouch (approximately 40 mins each way). Here you can find a local favorite quilt shop Stitch n’ Snip which specializes in Judy Niemeyer patterns. There are several restaurants, some shopping, and a full sized grocery store.

Directions to the Retreat

PLEASE NOTE: OUT OF RESPECT FOR OUR GUESTS, WE ARE ONLY OPEN BY APPOINTMENT OR RESERVATION ONLY.

If you have a confirmed reservation, you will receive a welcome email with detailed directions and instructions, approximately 1 week prior to your arrival.

If using a GPS to drive to the retreat, we recommend you use Google Maps only, as we have done our due diligence to ensure the accuracy of our address on their platform. We will provide you our address at the time of booking so you can use Google Maps to navigate to the retreat. Due to our remoteness, we advise you read our written driving instructions below as you may end up relying on them instead of your GPS. (please note, we are not on Apple Maps and do not recommend using Apple Maps as it is not accurate navigating in Boise County!) Please do not follow the Grimes Creek route to New Centerville directly from Highway 21! Due to the lack of maintenance, your likelihood of getting lost, stuck, or otherwise inconvenienced along the way (with no cell phone signal) is much greater than the route through Idaho City (and then taking Centerville Rd.). We recommend using Google Maps to navigate to the retreat. It should take you up Highway21 to Idaho City and then to Centerville. Do Not Use Grimes Creek Road!

From Boise, you will take I-84 to the Gowen Rd/Highway 21 exit and go North. You will follow Highway 21 for approximately 34 miles. This is a beautiful drive and takes you past Lucky Peak Dam and Reservoir. Once you enter the canyon, please watch your speed as its only 45mph. Once get to Idaho City, turn left on Montgomery Street (Turn at Sarsaparilla Ice Cream Shop). Follow Montgomery Street to the end and turn left, you are now on Centerville Road. You’ll go past the High School and as you leave town, you will see a sign on the left noting the way to Centerville. Follow this road up the mountain, the pavement will end and you’ll climb elevation, just keep going and in approximately 6 miles, you will be back on pavement. Please be courteous on Centerville Rd. If anyone is behind you, please pull to the side and let them pass.

Once you reach Centerville (you’ll know when the pavement starts again), you’ll turn into the Meadow Creek neighborhood (first left after crossing Grimes Creek. Look for the row of mailboxes under a green metal roof). You’ll then cross another creek (you will see the Meadow Creek sign pictured below) and take the first left (S. Meadow Creek Dr.), take this road for about 1/2 mile, then a sharp right onto Meadow Creek Dr. We are at the end of Meadow Creek Dr. (#33)

This sign is at the entrance to the subdivision. Turn left at the sign.. you’re almost there!
